Gay and Lesbian

President Barack Obama

Ohio’s school district suspended a teacher without pay for allegedly telling an African-American student, “We don’t need another black president.” Far be it form me to criticize the protocol for disciplining teachers, but the call for this teacher’s”firing” is overboard. It is overboard one because the media isn’t filling synapses with more urgent and pressing matters, and two if history is any indicator the teacher is right. We don’t need another black president.

America doesn’t need a female president (sorry Hillary). America doesn’t need a Hispanic or an Asian president. I know people will not like that but it’s the truth. America doesn’t need another ethnic, hyphenated, or sub group American as president if they are going to do exactly what a white male would do. America doesn’t need a female president, if she is going to do what her white male counterpart would do, just so we can celebrate that she is female. Yes those with agendas and predisposed mental conditions would cheer any selection from the selected, but they too will realize that electing someone doesn’t meant that someone represents your concerns, even if they claim to (see Worst Congress Ever). These others, (non-white males) have different experiences, different upbringings and different philosophies but once elect all of those qualities are muted by lobbyist and party lines. With all the talk of inclusion and diversity you don’t see either ruling party grooming any “minority” for the highest office in 2016, now do you? And that should tell you all you need to know.

Saving the auto industry

This does not mean the President is not to be commended for enduring all of the family attacks, the coded-racial slings and arrows. he has recovered masterfully from his mis-steps and endured the fickle whims of an under informed public. Under President Barack Obama the economy is stronger, the supreme court has a Hispanic justice, marijuana is legal, unemployment is down, homosexuals can marry, homeless veterans have housing, wall street has been reformed, the auto industry has been saved, the war in Iraq is over, women are paid equally as men, the stock market is higher than it has ever been and every American has healthcare coverage.

Presidential Family

The pricelessness of forcing whites to stomach the daily presence of a black family, for most was enough to case the 1st vote for Barack Obama.

It may not be as far off as you think

Through the eyes of history President Barack Obama will likely go down as the greatest president to have ever lived.

What President Barack Obama has done is exactly what needed to be done. It may have nuanced, but there was nothing extraordinary about it. He just happened to be president when they occurred. The previous President, George Bush, had America teetering on collapse and the American people were not having anymore Republican party policies shoved down their throats. The top 1% and media knew that the present conditions were unsustainable so they gave Americans a choice the black guy or the lady, and then they pushed Americans to the easier-to-deal with choice of the black guy. The republicans threw the 2008 election and the rest is history (they have to run someone to get the monies right?) And the black guy office and he took all of the hits, like he was supposed to and he has catered to every major group there was.

Drone on

President Barack Obama is also authorizing the use of remote control drones to kill people, so much so that this usages has now crept into police usage. He has allowed the NSA, CIA and the FBI the freedom to collect every bit of data there is on everyone, forever erasing the any notion of privacy. He has been far too accommodating to those who have impeded every one of his congressional pushes. He said that his administration would be transparent, but it hasn’t been. He has allowed lobbyist to work in his administration. He hasn’t placed a tariff on companies that do not provide barely sustainable wages to employees. Scores of innocent people, according to the DOJ, are incarcerated unknowingly. He has not fined or ended discrimination in internet purchases. He is still fundraising by millions. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has soared by 70 percent since he took office, He has not required companies selling and or operating in the U.S. to establish a non-slave wage for workers in third wold countries. He has not taken money out of politics. He has not fined, nor ended nightclub gender discrimination. He has done nothing about securing America’s southern border and has refused to enforce federal immigration laws. He ordered criminal investigations of reporters. He has dismissed any mention of reparations. He used the IRS to target conservatives. He bailed out the banks after their collapse.

“I’m a warrior for the middle class”, he has always bashed the rich and talks about helping the middle class, but hasn’t. American children graduating from high school, test scores average a 7th grade reading levels and 8th grade math level, and this hasn’t changed since he’s been in office and nothing he has done shows that America is serious about education our youth. He did not close Guantanamo Bay detention camp as he promised, it still houses detainees. He has a kill list, a list that has the locations of people he would like to pursue lethal action against. He has done nothing to end the failed war on drugs policies. He has done noting to reduce the states immoral need to incarcerate citizens for profit. He has not had his attorney general office review the thousands of racially biased laws…

H.R. 40

President Barack Obama has ignored the common folk, the every man, America’s backbone. For them taxes are high taxes, prices on mass produced items never go down, power is still centralized in political parties, gas prices are twice as high, a subtle class war has begun, and the regulations that face small businesses are burdensome. Since he has been in office the disparity between the rich and poor has never been greater.

“The idea that so many children are born into poverty in the wealthiest nation on Earth is heartbreaking enough. But the idea that a child may never be able to escape that poverty because she lacks a decent education or health care or a community that views her future as their own, that should offend all of us,”- President Barack Obama. Fortunately for President Obama there is still time for him to address many of these concerns.

No America doesn’t need a woman, Hispanic, Asian, and certainty not another black president. What America needs is an individual. An individual who will do the right thing. America needs a president who won’t just spew party platforms and follow party lines. America needs a president who will not bow to lobbyist, corporatism, special interest groups. If that were to happen that will be the only president for who gender and race does not matter. That is also a president, America won’t be allowed to have.

Why I Am Gay

My mother and father used to argue and fight a lot, so one day he left us.

My mother got so caught up chasing after

no good,

no account negroes

that she completely forgot about me.

I grew up really wanting her love,

wanting her to love me.

I never got it.

I remember it started long before freeze-tag. I always like to  put on

my mothers shoes.

You remember the Road Runner Show, the one with Wile. E. Coyote–

well that’s all I was thinking about.

I wasn’t even thinking about “hide-n-go-get-it”,

when these so-called men started touching on me.

The whole time they were doing these things to me they were telling

me that it was love,

that it was right.

“If you don’t do it, I’m ah tell your mother.”

I learned and was told shit that I shouldn’t have known or done until

I was grown.

I tried to tell some family members, but they didn’t want to talk about it.

It was like I deserved it,

like I asked for it.

So I grew up afraid.

I hit puberty and my feelings of love for my mother turned sexual.

And all of a sudden

I was attracted to her,

her,

and her,

but anger is what made me perpetuate it.

Somewhere along the line a part of me liked the feelings the sex brought.

When You Are Left-Handed like I am there are certain benefits, but over my lifetime I have come

to accept the fact that being a leftie is an anomaly.

Because we live in a right handed world we get injured more and a lefties life span is 10-years

shorter than a righties.

In ancient times we were celebrated for being different, special.

From the moment we are born most of us try to go out in a blaze of glory.

That’s why our love- making is dope,

our art is unique,

our mathematics are on point

and it’s hard to block our shot, hit our pitches or catch our balls.

We are not trying to change the rules to benefit us and if I didn’t tell you, you wouldn’t even know.

I know that I live in a right handed world.

I do not dream of the day when lefties will take over.

We do not have our own flag, society or leadership.

I know that I may not see 70,

hell I may not see 60

and according to the ladies I am going out in my own blaze of glory.

And you know what? I’m cool with that.

And I have to follow the rules

why don’t you?

Recently President Barack Obama evolved, or changed course on same-sex marriage., by now saying he supports gay marriage, but stresses that it is a personal position. This puts him in stark opposition to presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney who has firmly pledged his opposition to gay marriage. We won’t get into the rights and wrong of the issue or the possible financial and political motivations behind it. Was the president wrong to suggest that his daughter’s friends gay parents helped him see clearer? Was he wrong to come out in support of gay marriage, but not offer what he would do to move that forward? Is he setting the tone for the black community? Homosexuals are no longer a minority, while those that identify as gay may be. Besides most of these questions have been address by It Ain’t Just the Size.

Michael Eric Dyson has called those opposed to same-sex marriage as “Sexual Rednecks”, he also called religious zealotry as bigotry. Meanwhile pastor Jamal Bryant, CNN’s Roland Martin, and Sophia Nelson have taken to the airwaves to oppose the presidents “evolution” on gay marriage. Although Barack Obama is black he can’t be seen too closely associated with black issues. He has pledged support for women, military, Israel, gays, afghans and immigrants, but never support directly for blacks. Why?

The truth is that while mass marketed black cultural products are the rage in America, black people, especially descendants of slaves, just aren’t that popular. Well, not popular enough to warrant support or action from the president regarding a defacto 2nd class citizenship, mass incarcerations aimed at inner-cities and huge unemployment rates. Barack Obama has done and said much for “interest” groups, but he’s done nothing for blacks, unless you count him telling blacks to “get over it” and “stop whining.” What would happen if Barack Obama said to gays “quit crying and complaining”? I know people will say the president’s “administration” has programs that help blacks, or there are black gays and black immigrants. While this is true. It is also true that President Barack Obama appears afraid to address blacks and black issues in public.

I find it curious that after Barack’s personal “evolution” on gay-marriage, he went to Hollywood to a $40,000-a-plate fundraiser, which netted him 15 million dollars for his campaign. I have yet to see him in inner-cities of Los Angeles, New York or Chicago, isn’t he the president of the poor and down-trodden as well as the rich and influential? Isn’t he the President of all people and not just special interest. Some have suggested that black opposition to same-sex marriage is a religious one, it is not. While we are talking about black pain, gay inconvenience or the 1st Gay President… how did the black community become so entangled with gay rights? Some have suggested that President Obama is waiting until his 2nd term to really let the “Black” out. I don’t know what that means, but I do know that black people have always been told to be patient and wait, while other groups have gotten ahead. What I also know is that simply putting a black face on it won’t be good enough the second time around.

MG Hardie– Don’t let fear stop you from joining my fan page.

Here we are once again on the issue of race. The incident that forced Shirley Sherrod to resign from the USDA and following apologies has America once again talking about race. Racial Politics has the  NAACP condemning the Black Panther Party and at the same time calling for the Tea Party to not let racist into their organization. The Tea Party is calling the NAACP a racist organization. Sherrod, a government official, who made a speech at the NAACP event was forced to resign  after a video clip was posted on http://biggovernment.com/site a site run by Andrew Brightbart. The NAACP immediately issued a statement saying that “Sherrod’s comments were Shameful”. The video clip contained a part of a speech where Sherrod mentions that prejudice made her think of not helping a White farmer. Media outlets jumped on the blogger’s post and soon it was national headlines and Sherrod was labeled a racist.  The full video  shows that Sherrod’s speech was about overcoming prejudice and helping people. The event was filmed by the NAACP, which for some reason acted like the video came from an outside source. Once the full video of Sherrod’s speech came to the public’s attention, the NAACP released a statement saying that the blogger “bamboozled them”.  The Obama Administration fired Shirley Sherrod on Tuesday, and apologized to her on Wednesday.

Sherrod blames the NAACP, Brightbart blames the Media, The NAACP blames Brightbart, The Obama Administration blames The Media and of course The Media blames Fox News.  Shirley Sherrod says that “The Administration wanted her to pull over to the side of the road and resign”. And that is how it always is with these things, nobody is to blame and everybody is responsible at the same time. We The People don’t want our problems solved, we just want to be able to live our lives without having to think too much, if we wanted the problems fixed we would have elected leaders that do more than just manage our problems. Racism is always in fashion and sadly, it is not in corporate or political America’s best interest for races to get along. If they did they would have deconstructed the lies and myths long ago. America is heading in a dangerous direction.

America is simply afraid of Race, that includes organizations like the NAACP. In their rush to become White Acceptable they allowed someone who wasn’t racist to be labeled racist, by their own fault. The NAACP can’t just use a new slogan and put red, white and blue on it’s website and then shy away from your guiding principles. I know that one of the A‘s in the acronym stands for Advancement, so Ben Jealous where is it? Instead of compromising such a storied organization why bring in new people with fresh perspectives, why not not come up with ideas to stay relevant. The ACT-SO program is great, but why not have a NAACP Entertainment Division or NAACP Record Label and the NAACP can promote actors, actresses, rappers, singers, song writers and others in the field of entertainment who generate positive images of African Americans and other people of color? You need better ideas, and kowtowing shouldn’t be one of them. As for the Tea Party,  since there are racist in every organization, if you are not a racist organization don’t promote racists and by all means don’t let them lead you.

Blacks have national forums on race and many of those forums exclude West Coast Speakers. Gays have meetings that exclude Blacks. Whitetopia’s have sprung up in the mid-west where minorities are welcome to visit, but not welcome to stay. Hollywood continues it’s White Wash of Actors as do our magazines. Racially-coded fair continues to populates our televisions and our radio stations. White rapper Eminem constantly talks about misogyny (in his latest song, Love the way you lie, he talks of tying a women to a bed and then setting the house on fire) and violence, is lauded for being artistry, while Nelly and other black rappers are vilified. The way it is now the Chinese don’t like Vietnamese, the Vietnamese don’t like Koreans, the Puerto Ricans don’t like Mexicans, the Mexicans don’t like Guatemalans, the Japanese don’t like Filipinos, Latinos don’t like other Latinos and Black aren’t very popular with anyone. All the while the police shoot unarmed black men in the street.

Books that are changing everything

Here is the deal both political parties want and need division, that’s how they get paid. Politicians don’t become popular from doing the right thing. Not from being right. If that were the case Dennis Kucinich would be in charge. The Radio, Television and Media were once used to inform the public. However, once it was realized that the constant imagery and bombardment can alter perceptions and attitudes these mediums are now being used to shape public policy, and instead of reporting the NEWS they have been making the NEWS. They can do this because most Americans are too caught up with our fears, or at the very least too busy watching what is going on a Football field or the Jersey Shore.

The facts always  matter. Do Native Americans have a legitimate gripe? Do the Japanese? Do the Blacks? Yeap. When the Klux-Klux-Klan killed Sherrod’s father over a cow that wasn’t even his, who could blame Shirley Sherrod if she was prejudice or even racist, and yet there are many who say “just get over it”. For anyone to try and vilify Birghtbard for airing a video is absurd, he is a blogger that is what he does. We point fingers because we want race to be someone else’s issue, and not ours. Race is a media’s issue, a corporate issue, a political issue and a, Obama administration issue. Our officials will point fingers, drink beers in rose gardens, apologize and offer jobs; while the media changes the subject to leaked war diaries or British Petroleum’s restructing all to give us this false sense that we are dealing with the problem.

The President will bend to the pressure of his administration. He will appoint, select and put people in certain positions who are sensitive to race, but ultimately they will be politicians. Racial Politics, Gender Politics, agendas and strategies  will creep in and yet again, and nothing will really be done. Real conversations on race will not take place. American’s, far longer that the term Politically Correct was coined, haven’t been speaking their minds. The only one saying how they really feel in America today is Mel Gibson and ex-American Idol Judge Simon Cowell.

Some of our leaders have people so whipped up on Socialism and Social programs and how bad they are for this country. When the truth is that 40% of the US economy comes from money right out of our social programs, and you wondered why Canada’s tax rate was so high.  Now take that 40% out of the economy and what happens?  Add another 40% of tax to your paycheck. Our elected officials for years have us believing that the invasion of Afghanistan was necessary. Last year the Afghan people earned an average of $1,000 per year for a total of 10 Billion gross national product. At the same time the United States of America spent $30 Billion dollars to win the hearts and mind of the Afghan people.  Why didn’t we just put the Afghan people on our payroll instead?  I don’t know about you, but if somebody tripled my yearly income I think I would be on their side, or at the very least I would have lost the will to shoot at them. And yet not one will bat an eye when congress passes a massive $60 Billion war funding bill. Spending the money to occupy Vs. actually trying to succeed–think about it. And that is the real problem, we aren’t thinking. We are being told what to think, what opinion to have. There will be multiple conversations, discussions and many articles will be written on this Race issue, but when you ask the wrong question to the wrong people you are going to end up with the wrong answer. As a nation we have to be ready to deal with the answers whether we like them or not.

These national organizations, The Media and the Obama administration should be ashamed of themselves for saying that the responsibility is Brightbart’s. Blogger Media, which is usually one sided and polarized. If the Obama Administration continues to allow “The Media” and “polls” to set public policy we are in big trouble. If the NAACP continues to allow the media and media perception to dictate their philosophy their legacy is in trouble  If the media continues to allow bloggers and unvetted information to appear as news the public at large who depend on them are in big trouble. As a nation we need to get beyond race. That is what Post-Racial was supposed to mean, but it actually means that we can be racist and not have to be so tongue and cheek about it. It means that now we can be overtly racist, or use coded racial remarks and if we get called out on it we can just apologize and all is well. Let’s face it they meant to say it, or they wouldn’t have said it. We need to grow together as a nation, after all you can’t legislate racism away. As evidenced bythe fact that articles like these are only written when something happens.

America we have a serious problem, and a lot of growing up to do.  The entire country needs to go on a national P90X program to get rid of prejudice, violence and unwanted notions. Perhaps, racism is America’s second biggest problem, because the first one is Denial.

Note: Now the NAACP and Shirley are joining forces to continue the discussion on race.

Hopefully by now you have all heard the President’s call to repeal the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Policy. This is a policy was enacted 1993, and since then a number of gay men and women have been kicked out of the military because of their sexual orientation. Sen. John McCain is one of DADT biggest supporters. After President Obama asked for the repeal of DADT, Sen. McCain said that he would be for the repeal if the Military Leadership was also for it. Senator McCain, has frequently stated that his staunch opposition to allowing openly gay men and women in the armed forces is based on a recommendation by General Colin Powell in 1993. This week General Colin Powell said, “DADT should repealed”. Followed by our nations two top Military leaders Admiral Mike Mullen chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates who both stated that they backed a repeal of this policy.

John McCain– “I am disappointed in the testimony.”

MG– Okay how about Wednesday when more than 100 retired generals and admirals called for repeal of this policy.

JM– “Why repeal it, I think the policy has been effective.”

MG– Hmmmm. Senator this sounds a little shady. You agree that I have complied a pretty impressive list of Military Officials that back the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?

JM– “There has to be a determination from our military leaders that they think it is a good idea to change the policy; then, of course, I will listen to them.”

MG– Then you will Listen, wait a minute that is not what you said in 2006. Play the tape! [MG plays tape of John McCain circa 2006, “The day that all the leadership of the military comes to me and says, ‘Senator, we ought to change the policy,’ then I think we ought to consider seriously changing it.”

MG– And?

JM– And what?

MG– And they are coming to you.

JM– Not All of them.

MG– What do you mean?

JM– Yes, to the untrained professional your list of names would seem impressive. However, upon further examination there are some very important and high ranking names are missing from your list.

MG– Like who?

JM– I happen to have another list [unfolds some paper]. Now, let me know once these military leaders have reversed their stance on Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. [clears throat, Begins listing names]

Col. Sherman Potter

Lt. Col. Andy Tanner

Capt. Jonas Grumby

Lt. Cmdr. Worf

Col. Nathan R. Jessep

Col. Robert Hogan

Cmdr. Adama

Col. Sanders

Lt. Uhura

Lt. Cmdr. Data

Gen. Grievous

Capt. Hook

Sgt. Slaughter

Capt. Morgan

Capt. Jack Sparrow

Capt. Crunch

Capt. Kangaroo

Capt. Kirk

Capt. Stubing

Capt. America

And then I will listen.

Regardless of McCain’s opposition and the opposition of many others the House voted to allow the Senate Arms Committee to repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Democrats and Republicans alike are playing politics on this this issue in order to serve their election needs. The republicans say that military rules are unique and are not to be tied to social issues. The democrats support this repeal move but only to advance their agenda. However, the Senate Arms Committee is now waffeling on how much of the act to repeal.

November 2010 The Pentagon released a DADT military survey:

“the results of a survey sent to troops this summer and cited in the report, 69 percent of respondents said they had served with someone in their unit who they believed to be gay or lesbian. Of those who did, 92 percent stated that their unit’s ability to work together was very good, good, or neither good nor poor, according to the report.”

December 15 , 2010

The House voted for the second time this year to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

225-177

On December 17th 2010

In a stunning turn of events the U.S. Congress in a “lame duck session” voted to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell ending a 17 year old ban on homosexuals in the military. Apparently even the fictional military leaders have agree that the policy was wrong. This changing of the law begins the process of ending discrimination. Yes the commanders on the military branches are still not on board with repeal, as we all know Change has it’s enemies. I just wonder if those that opposed DADT’s repeal will apologize, what do you think?
